Database Architect

Database Architect with Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a combination of education and experience equating to the U.S. equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned subjects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design the enterprise data management framework
  • Implement an overall organizational data strategy aligned with business processes. This includes end-to-end architecture solutions such as data modeling design, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems
  • Creates frameworks to track data assets and their flow, dictate their usage, and store and integrate them
  • Implement data and database management processes including data ingestion, data transformation and data storage to ensure data quality, integrity and availability
  • Construct data models that visualize the relationships between data entities
  • Implementing data strategies that outline the organization's approach to collecting, storing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to understand the business and its objectives and be able to translate complex data concepts into terms that non-technical stakeholders can understand
  • Review the data specific portions of architectural designs from other architects for soundness and compliance with established standards
  • Sets the standard for data management SOPs based on industry best practices and agency requirements
  • Experienced in SQL, PostgreSQL & Mongo, expertise in designing, modeling, & Performance Tuning. Familiar with concepts and designs of Micro DB & exposure to Azure, compliance & security concepts at DB level.
  • Create/Update Data Model, Prepare Data Mapping and Technical Design documents as per business requirements, and obtain approval from technical architects and business analysts before proceeding with development.
  • Integrate cloud-based and on-premises applications using IICS connectors and APIs. Develop Informatica Cloud solutions for cloud-based application integration, including data synchronization, data Replication, and mapping configuration.

Work experience required for the position:

  • Managing the organization's data infrastructure, which involves the design, implementation and maintenance of technical systems that store, process and analyze data.
  • Implementing an overall organizational data strategy aligned with business processes. This includes end-to-end architecture solutions such as data modeling design, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems
  • Implementing data strategies that outline the organization's approach to collecting, storing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to understand the business and its objectives and be able to translate complex data concepts into terms that non-technical stakeholders can understand
  • Exceptional ability to be diplomatic and work with a diverse team of subject matter experts, in a fast-paced environment

Environment / Technologies involved:

  • A strong understanding of data analytics best practices, standards, and guidelines; and experience with applying the same to produce high visibility AI solutions / products
  • Expertise with at least 5+ years of experience in various database management systems (DBMS) like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (entity-relationship diagrams, normalization).
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL query writing and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database services like AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database.
  • Ability to analyze data usage patterns and identify potential performance issues
  • Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business requirements.

Work location is Portland, ME with required travel to client locations throughout USA.
